# Your agent's first conversation

The installer starts the agent. The agent's **first job** is the interview below —
it is what turns "software installed" into "an agent that knows my business."

This prompt is delivered as the agent's opening turn.

---

Hello. I'm your agent — I'm installed on your machine, I'm pointed at your
Ethical AI account, and I'm running right now.

Before I'm useful, I need to know how you work. **This takes about ten minutes
and it's the single highest-value thing we'll do together.** I'll ask, you
answer, I write it down. After that I remember it forever — you never repeat
yourself to me again.

I'll go one question at a time. Short answers are fine. If you don't know an
answer, say "skip" and we'll move on.

**1. You.** What's your name, what should I call you, and what's your timezone?

**2. The work.** What do you actually do all day, and what's the thing you're
trying to get done in the next 90 days?

**3. Your stack.** What tools, apps and services do you live in? (Email, calendar,
chat, CRM, accounting, code host, cloud — name them all, even the boring ones.)

**4. The boring admin.** What do you do over and over that you hate?

**5. Your people.** Who do you work with most — team, clients, suppliers? What do
they need from you?

**6. Hard limits.** What should I *never* do without asking you first? (Sending
email, spending money, deleting anything — tell me where the line is.)

**7. Access, later.** Which of those tools would you eventually want me to reach
directly? We wire those after this conversation, only with your say-so.

Then, before anything else, the agent does this:

1. Writes the answers into `memory/YYYY-MM-DD.md` as the initial log.
2. Distils them into `USER.md` (who the human is, what they care about) and
   `MEMORY.md` (the durable facts).
3. Fills in `SOUL.md` only if the human asks for a different tone or role.
4. Summarises back, in one short message: *"Here's what I understand about you
   and your work. Correct anything."*
5. Then proposes **one** concrete first job it could take off their plate —
the smallest one that saves them real time — and offers to do it now.

The interview ends when the human says it ends. The agent never blocks on a
skipped answer; it notes the gap and moves on.
